PII Named Associate Partner in new €2 million EU-Funded Justice in Healthcare AI Initiative

The Public Innovation Institute is named as an associate partner of the newly announced "JustHealth" project, a €2 million-funded initiative by the European Commission focused on ensuring social justice in healthcare.
This initiative will see the launch of the first doctoral program in the EU specifically designed to ensure social justice in the development and deployment of AI in healthcare, under the theme JustHealth: Building a Decolonized Ethics and Governance Framework for Just and Trustworthy AI in Healthcare.
The project is now accepting applications for two fully funded Ph.D. positions at the University of Macerata in Italy: DC1 - AI Ethics will focus on developing, testing, and validating a decolonized ethics and governance framework for trustworthy AI in healthcare, with regard to ethical aspects (values and principles). DC2 - AI Governance (Policy and Regulation) will focus on developing, testing, and validating a decolonized ethics and governance framework for trustworthy AI in healthcare, with regard to governance aspects (policies and regulations). The start date for these two positions is September 1st 2026 for a duration of 36 months. Funding will be through the MCSA Doctoral Network Fellowship which provides a competitive salary and allowances for research and travel.
